I feel so privileged to be a part of this incredible
school, where children can grow and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
I have been lucky to serve here first a teacher and now as the director.
My educational philosophy is grounded in empowering
children to become independent decision makers within the loving boundaries
of the classroom. The mission of early childhood education should be to create
a community of learners in which teachers model mutual respect for the ideas
and feelings of others. This educational approach seeks to develop the whole
child and to foster growth academically and creatively, physically, emotionally,
and socially. It also encourages the self-confidence that children need in order
to achieve their dreams.
The Rising Stars curriculum caters to the individual
child’s needs and developmental level. The teachers develop creative lesson
plans that support each child's independence and critical thinking skills, but
that also include the basic skills necessary for success in school. As the children
are working on their reading, writing, and math skills, they are also working
towards being responsible community members and active participants in their
own education.
In addition to our strong academic objectives,
one of our main goals at Rising Stars is to cultivate children’s love
of learning. Every day, the staff encourage and model the excitements of creative
learning. Through daily exploratory lessons that incorporate music, dramatic
play, science concepts, and art, we reinforce the premise that learning is a
life-long adventure.
Sincerely,
Ellen Muggli
